Town of Delavan man died Monday in one-car crash
TOWN OF DELAVAN—A town of Delavan man died Monday while driving what was reported as a stolen car, according to police reports.
Police found Robert L. Rodriguez, 21, of 4140 Fox Lane, Delavan, at 7:16 p.m. Monday in a car “wrapped completely around a tree” on Highway 50 near County F in the town of Delavan, according to Town of Delavan Police Department records. The intersection is just east of Delavan.
Rodriquez was dead when emergency workers got to the scene, according to police records. Rodriguez was driving a 2009 Kia Rio east on Highway 50 at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the car, which became airborne and struck a tree on the south side of the highway.
The crash snapped a utility pole. Bark was scraped from the tree at a height of 8 feet, according to police records.
The car appeared to have been stolen Monday evening from a home on Elmhurst Court in Delavan, according to police records.
Police closed traffic to Highway 50 at Classic Drive and Townhall Road and to County F from Bailey Road, according to police records.
