More than 100 wolves killed during hunt
ST. PAUL, Minn.—The state says more than 100 wolves have been killed during Minnesota’s first managed wolf hunt.
The Department of Natural Resources says 109 wolves have been taken in the first eight days of the hunt, which includes 47 in the northeast hunting zone. The Duluth News Tribune says the seasonal quota for that zone is 58 wolves.
The statewide quota is 200 wolves for the early hunting season, which ends Nov. 18 or when the quota is reached. A second wolf hunting season, along with a trapping season, will begin Nov. 24 and continue through Jan. 31. That harvest will also be capped at 200 wolves.
In Wisconsin, wolf hunters and trappers had taken 64 wolves through Sunday night. The maximum harvest for the season that ends Jan. 31 is 116.

I find it curious that the people that want to protect the wolves are not people that will have to live with the results of protecting them.

I just learned you just need a donkey on your property to keep away Coyotes. Not sure if it would work for wolves too.

Sigma40's question: "Are we the most idiotic state in the nation?"
I think that the last two years under Walker and under the resultant shadow during this most recent presidential campaign spending extravaganza have answered your question with a resounding YES! Matter of fact, I think that the motto "The Most Idiotic State in the Nation" should now be emblazoned on our license plates.
But I suspect that setting our little friends Canis lupus familiaris out hunting their fellow Canids, and the cheery Canid trapping season, has put big smiles on the faces of most of the "sportsmen" (& "-women") out there taking part.
How charming, eh? I mean in a bronze-age, throw-back, twisted sort of way? And perhaps the next "season" declared will prove even more delightful!

Wolves are a "Protected" species not endangered.
The hunt is called population management.

Why do we have license plates issued to protect endangered species and a picture of a wolf on it? Are we the most idiotic state in the nation?
