Heating costs likely to rise in Wisconsin this winter

MADISON—Wisconsin residents can expect to pay more to heat their homes this winter.
Most residents paid less last year because of the unseasonably warm winter. This winter is expected to be colder.
Madison Gas and Electric expects heating costs to rise 18 percent this year, or about $75 for the winter.
And We Energies predicts its customers in western and southeastern Wisconsin will pay 9 percent more.
For electric heating bills, a Wisconsin Public Radio report says utilities have asked the state to let them raise rates 1 percent to 7 percent.
For those who heat their homes with fuel oil, it’s harder to predict what will happen with costs.

Ryan Gunderson of Superior Fuel says so many factors affect the price that little is certain.

Vague article. Are they predicting higher costs than last year or higher than an average year?

To nemesis:

Who was it that championed deregulating the energy market? I seem to remember a Yosemite Sam looking character in the white house calling a crook of the energy market "Kenny Boy"!

Some people will take every opportunity to let the world know just how foolish they can be.

Aren't those the same people that says don't blame Obama for gas prices?

Walker nor the PSC control natural gas prices.
.
Yada, tell me how Walker has anything what so ever with natural gas prices. Does Walker have cronies at the well heads in the Gulf Coast that are artificially driving up whole sale costs?
.
AndrewJackson, tell me how the PSC controls natural gas prices. They can approve rate hikes due to multiple criteria but they have no control over supply and demand and well head costs.

Right, and who gets hurt the worst by Obama's non-energy policy? The middle class.
The working poor.

America is the richest nation with coal and natural gas and the Obama Aministration says "NO".
Don't blame me, I didn't give him another term to continue the misery.

Let the PSC know how you feel about this. They are not doing their job. Much like Congress.

It looks like I may have to put my red kettle out in a prominent spot just to pay for the increase in heating this yr. Seniors such as me will get hit the hardest as we have no means to raise the additional income that it takes to heat the home
