MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democrat Justin Pluess has conceded defeat in his bid for a seat in the state Assembly.
Unofficial results from the Nov. 6 election showed incumbent Republican Scott Krug held a 114-vote lead over Pluess in the race for north-central Wisconsin’s 72nd Assembly District seat. Both Pluess and Krug are from Wisconsin Rapids.
Pluess released a statement Wednesday saying the official canvass showed Krug ahead by 109 votes. State Government Accountability Board spokesman Reid Magney couldn’t immediately confirm that figure, but it doesn’t matter. Pluess said he won’t seek a recount because election officials deserve a break and he wants to spare the taxpayers the expense.
