JANESVILLE--A state lawmaker who represents Rock County said he has been assured that the planned Interstate 90/39 expansion project will go on as scheduled, at least through the middle of 2015.

Reports surfaced last week that the state Department of Transportation had requested a two-year delay in the project, which will widen the Interstate from two lanes in each direction to three lanes in each direction from the Illinois state line to the Beltline in Madison.

A portion of the route, primarily through Janesville, has been planned for widening from two lanes in each direction to four. Construction has been set to start in 2015 with an expected completion date of 2021.

State Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville, said he heard the reports on the delay, became concerned and approached transportation officials for an explanation.

He said he was assured the 45-mile project would continue on its established timeline based on funding projections for the 2013-15 budget, which Gov. Scott Walker likely will unveil in February.

Anyone that runs from their elected responsibility will not get my respect.
That was a pathetic example of politics in this day and age. (and I mean all politics...Dem or Republican)
You can make all the excuses, trumped up "He did it for the people" and all that other crap you want, but whatever you want to call it, he and the others RAN from their responsibility....and that was just plain WRONG...
Just be glad he wasn't a Policeman or Fireman..
And afterward, let's not forget his quitting when he didn't get his way, then days later..Oh I think I will stay now...ya right...
This guy only cares about himself..just look at the facts and his record.

peb1127 & hdonlybob, first of all, Senator Cullen did his job. He represented citizens of WI by de-railing the GOP's fast push to change WI. He helped provide time for the people whose jobs and futures would be impacted by ACT 10 to gather support for opposition. So can it. Thank you Senator Cullen and the other brave senators who have endured such ridiculous misrepresentation.

Cullen is trying to repair his damaged reputation by jumping on any publicity that is attached to positive job growth issues . He hopes voters will forget how he was a vital part of the expensive recall effort that cost the taxpayers of Wisconsin over 10 million dollars. Should he decide to run for office again, I hope his opponent hammers him about his trip to Rockford doesn’t let the voters forget about that he decided to not to do his job.

I am sure Cullen is very interested in the completion from Madison to Janesville....in case he has to run and hide in Rockford again, and happens to be in Madison when he flees....
That way he will have a clear sailing all the way...

More low speed diesel passenger trains will come to Wisconsin right after California's boondoggle of a trainwreck project is finished. $33B turned into $100B project, billions spent already and not a track has been laid. Even Californians are 2-1 against the project now.

OK, but when will our high-speed trains be on the road?
