Milton's Krajcovicova in state tennis semifinals
When the girls tennis season was halfway complete, Lea Krajcovicova did not fully understand what the WIAA state championship was all about. She does now. The Milton High foreign-exchange student from Slovakia won three matches Friday to advance to the semifinals today at the WIAA Division 1 girls tennis championships at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Krajcovicova takes a 27-0 record into her 9 a.m. semifinal match Saturday against No. 3 seed Lily Hayes of Whitefish Bay (20-4). The No. 7-seeded Krajcovicova upset No. 2 seed Mardee Merar of Homestad, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Krajcovicova, a junior, finished off her quarterfinal win with a rocket forehand down the line.

reasonbeing - Reason is because shes not even from around here and is news. Why no news about the people of our own community that do lots more than hit a ball with a stick? The Back Bar had a car show this last weekend and money was raised and donated to Echo.. it happend in the rain.. Lots of local businesses sponsored it and helped. ...Yet we read about kid from Slovakia that played a game and won. HA! All the things that happen around our community and they are shunned, ignored, not spoken of and you wonder why Janesville has a reputation as being a stuck up closed door community? This is nothing against her, ya, congrats to her... her and the hundreds of other kids around here who won a game of some sort this weekend. Its about the communist type media coverage we have around here. I hear a lot, and there are a lot of important things, not just to me, but everyone that doesnt make any news, and Im sick of reading about dumb stuff like this that shouldnt even be news beyond this persons family and friends. Maybe if this was a school newspaper yes... But would think the Gazette could do a little better.

Unfortunately she lost in the championship match. What an accomplishment, however, it's great to see any local athletes excelling!

D.S. I know your right about Sigma......but. ....come on a sports news story about a kid? You know sports is news but you just couldn't help posting a negative comment. How about you show some class and ask that your previous post be replaced with a congratulations? She is no doubt excited to have an article on her accomplishments. Congratulations Lea !

Well the news is she is a foreign exchange student who is doing wonderful things while she is here in the states, any parent would be proud of her. You have to remember what is news to some might not be news to others. Sigma40 why is it you must be so cold toward a kid who only is trying to make herself better in life?
