Ryan blasts president on debt during Waukesha stop
WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan is taking President Barack Obama to task over the nation’s deficit at a Waukesha rally.
Ryan appeared in front of hundreds of people in Carroll University’s field house Monday. His campaign erected a digital scoreboard at one end of the field house that tracked the growth of the national debt by the second. Ryan urged people to watch how fast the numbers are growing. He says Obama has run up more debt than all the nation’s previous presidents combined.
Wisconsin is one of nine states Republicans and Democrats believe are still in play for the November elections. Ryan headlined a fundraiser for GOP U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson in Milwaukee on Sunday and Vice President Joe Biden was in La Crosse on Friday.

CHART: Without The Bush Tax Cuts, The Debt Would Be At Sustainable Levels
http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/06...
Calculations based on data from the CBO and Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy.
Taxes paid to the nation are equivalent to a persons paycheck, you keep cutting a persons paycheck, it doesn't take long to not be able to meet expenses. If paying more in taxes is what it takes to keep this country afloat we all need to accept that responsibility and do it. All of us want the benefits of living in this country but it seems some of us don't want to pay for it. Romney and Ryan want to run the country just like Romney ran Bane Capital, bleed it dry of every asset it has, put nothing back into it. Then a few at the very top benefit and the rest of the country (safety nets) are shut down.

Why do Mitt and MiniMitt keep going to Waukesha? It's probably the most Republican area in the state. All those people are going to vote for them anyway. Shouldn't they be talking to people who might not vote for them? Or is that the only place they can generate a crowd?

That soup kitchen photo op speaks volumes about Ryan's character. After being told by the owner not to come because they are a non-political organization, the Ryan contingent went anyway and got some kids to let them in. Talk about disrespect!

from mrjosephs' link:
"According to a Romney aide not authorized to speak publicly about the event, the campaign followed its usual protocol for impromptu, on-the-road stops by candidates: A staffer was dispatched to the St. Vincent De Paul Society ahead of Ryan’s visit Saturday morning and spoke with a woman in charge on site, who said that it would be fine for the congressman to stop by. The campaign did not contact Antal ahead of the visit.
The woman on site told the Romney staffer that some of the volunteers had already left, but that most were happy to remain until Ryan arrived, according to the aide. After Ryan left the soup kitchen, the woman approached a campaign staffer and expressed gratitude for Ryan’s visit, the aide said.
Chris Maloney, Ohio communications director for the Romney campaign, said that the visit by Ryan had been intended to highlight the work of the soup kitchen volunteers."
The volunteers wanted to meet and speak with Ryan. Ryan also meet and spoke privately with homeless people who were outside.
Biden and Obama also make "impromptu" visits, do you take issue with that also?

carlito, Biden voted for and supported both wars as did most of the Democratic party and he also supported the Medicare prescription drug biull which was touted as bi partisan at the time. THere you have it bi partisanship has caused this mess... shocker. Bi-partisan=more people involved in screwing things up. Put down the partisan kool-aid and open your eyes neither party is doing anyone any good. Carlito perhaps you can answer me this since you are a partisan, I blast both parties however only Democrats seem to become defensive, why is that?

Paul Ryan's soup kitchen work fakery is a metaphor for the Romney-Ryan team. If elected, they plan to do work that doesn't need to be done or is an extremist act. The campaign didn't have permission to do this photo opportunity at this charity, but they barged in and did it anyway. That's how a 1 percent-led campaign works:

Thanks for the confirmation on the attendance. It was obvious from the Live Stream of the event, that it was more than "hundreds".
The Biden event in LaCrosse was "4 thousand", as reported by MSM.
Actually, it was more like 500 and it was held next to a half empty parking lot.

I attended this rally/town hall meeting and I estimated the crowd to be 3 to 4 thousand. I had to see what the media reported the turnout as and wasn't surprised to see them say hundreds. That's their way of low balling the numbers but still being correct because 30 or 40 hundred is correct and serves their agenda better than 3 to 4 thousand. I'm so sick of this leftist media.

The left thinks sticking their head in the sand, having all dem members of the house and senate vote NO to Obama's budget, and then not passing a national budget for the last three years is a good plan; while more people are collecting govt aide than ever, while family incomes have shrank, while our nations bond ratings have been downgraded twice in history (both under Obama), and the nations job pool has shrunk. On the bright side they are happy to see Carter2.0 with higher fuel costs, fuel lines, higher energy costs, and turmoil in the middle east.

**rolls eyes** Yeah, Obama is single handedly responsible for the current debt. Good grief, this goof ball has been a member of Congress and a career politician nearly his entire adult life. Those policies that balloon our debt are largely bipartisan issues, and he is just as much a part of it as any other politician. It's in his own voting record, for God's sake.
Romney has 0 plans to reduce the debt, and Ryan's much ballhooed and righteous plan (you know, the one the mainstream Repubs threw under the bus) doesn't address it either.
Nice try Ryan, but like your fake photo-op at the kitchen, we can see right through you.

You know both candidates talked about fixing Social Security. Well seems to me where you start is by stopping people from abusing the system that should not be on it. The only one that should be on SSI should be Seniors, the Disable, People with Cancer, and Veterans In my opinion i feel that illegals and people abusing SSI have no right to be on SSI and this is why SSI is broken but I have yet to see anyone really address this issue and continue to pass the buck. If their serious about fixing SSI than it needs to start here so we preserve SSI for future generation if they don't I fear there will be no SSI in the future.

Ryan was complaining about the numerous pieces of unfunded legislation he was against before he voted for them and now is against again. He's learning from his mentor, Willard Mitt, the fine art of speaking out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.
