BELOIT—Beloit police have closed their investigation into the death last week of a 58-year-old Beloit man.

In a news release, police said that an autopsy determined Melvin Malone died of a medical issue and not a criminal act.

Emergency responders found Malone dead at 3:10 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue. A neighbor called 911 after a woman knocked on the neighbor’s door and asked for an ambulance for the man.

Initial suspicion into Malone’s death centered on a fresh injury to his forehead, but a medical examiner determined the injury had no effect in his death, police said.

Based on the autopsy reports, police have concluded their investigation.
