MADISON, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin is using her spotlight at the Democratic National Convention to take aim at prominent Wisconsin Republicans, saying they don’t understand the state and that candidates like her will fight for the middle class.

Baldwin’s speech Thursday evening came just hours before President Barack Obama was scheduled to speak.

Baldwin says Gov. Scott Walker and her Senate opponent, former Gov. Tommy Thompson, don’t speak for Wisconsin. She said the same of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan.

Baldwin took a specific jab at Thompson, a former lobbyist, saying he “went to Washington, cashed in on his special interest connections and never really came back.”

The most recent poll on her race shows her trailing Thompson by 9 points.

Question for Tommy Thompson; Who did you give the one hundred million dollars too that you stole from the Wisconsin State Employees pension fund (WRS)?
Who paid the money back?

*he “went to Washington, cashed in on his special interest connections and never really came back.” *

So says career Congresswoman Baldwin, who left Dane County over a decade ago and never came back. Conveniently forgetting along the line that while she only represents a tiny portion of the state, Thompson and Walker are/were chief execs of the ENTIRE state.

Yawn.

Ms Baldwin does not represent the state and the majority do not support her idealogy. I am pleased she is running for the Senate because it gets her out of the 2nd district. We just need to make sure Mr Pocan does not get elected to fill her spot. He is just as liberal as she is. We need to get rid of these Madison liberals that hold political office. Tommy Thompson for Senate and Chad Lee for the 2nd district.

I used to read these comments good and bad, agree or disagree. I voted for Obama (again, I apologize) but what I notice most is the complete and utter deniel universe the left continues to live in. The 2010 elections, the Prosser victory and the Walker recalls just don't seem to be enough for the left to realize middle Americans are rejecting how far left the Democrat party has gone under Obama leadership.

I own a Baldwin. I purchased it at Kinko's. It's a partisan uber left liberal rubber stamp.

Bills signed by the President: Baldwin 3; Ryan 2. Paul's were about arrows and the Janesville post office. Tammy's were about vision benefits for veterans, the Madison post office, and reauthorization of a bill providing for early detection of breast cancer.

Sure, Walker and Thompson speak for WI. That part of WI that is rural, get's government handouts in the form of farm subsidies, and entirely depends on the metropolitan areas (Democrat) for financial survival, from tourism to ethanol, from farmer's markets to developing prime farmland into track housing for city folk. You betcha!

What gets me is that Baldwin has been a Congressperson for a long time... What has she done for us?
.
Taking shots at the others means less to me than nothing...
.
She should be talking about how she CAN work with people to accomplish things.
.
At least Ryan and Walker have a history of saying: If you like the things I say I'm going to do.. Than vote for me.. People did.

It may play well in Madtown but this uber left liberal has about as much chance as Kathleen Falk with the rest of Wisconsin.
