A 36-year-old Janesville woman is dead, and a Rockford man who is believed to be armed and dangerous is being sought in the shooting, which apparently occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 90/39 in northern Illinois.

Beloit police said the deceased is Lori A. Daniels of 3100 Glenbarr Drive on Janesville’s far south side.

A reward of $1,000 is being offered in the case for information leading to the arrest of Kody Ryan Patrick Walsh, 22, of Rockford, Ill. Walsh is described as male; white; 5-feet, 10 inches tall, and 150 pounds. His last known address 4330 Mila Ave., Rockford, Ill. To report information, call the Illinois State Police at (815) 239-1152.

Beloit Police Capt. Vince Sciame said he has no idea what the motive for the shooting might have been. Beloit police got involved after they talked to a Beloit man who said he was driving when another man shot Daniels in his vehicle, in the northbound lanes of Interstate 90/39 somewhere south of the South Beloit toll plaza, Sciame said.

The Beloit man and Walsh, 22, met Daniels at a bar in Rockford and were giving her a ride to Beloit when the incident occurred, according to what the Beloit man told police, Sciame said.

Authorities are looking for Walsh, who fled a South Beloit police officer sometime after the shooting. The southbound chase on Interstate 90/39 ended in Rockford, where the car crashed and Walsh fled on foot, firing at least one shot at officers, Sciame said. Daniels’ body was apparently inside the vehicle.
