DELAVAN—An Elkhorn man is dead after his vehicle crashed head on into another vehicle on Friday, the Walworth County Coroner’s office reported.

Coroner John Griebel confirmed that Brad L. Zimmerman, 43, 5614 Highway 11, Lot 9 E, Elkhorn, was pronounced dead at 6:54 p.m. Friday at Mercy Walworth Hospital and Medical Center, Lake Geneva.

Griebel reported that Zimmerman’s vehicle left the roadway and re-entered in the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle head-on. The crash happened at around 6 p.m. Friday at Highway 50, ½ mile east of North Shore Drive, on the east end of Delavan.

Details of the crash, including the identity of the driver of the other vehicle and whether more people may have been injured, were not available.

The Delavan Police Department on Friday and Saturday would not confirm a crash had happened, and declined to say whether the Department was investigating any deaths.

Officers from the police department told Gazette reporters that details of an undisclosed incident would be available in a news release Monday.

The crash and the cause of Zimmerman’s death remains under investigation by Delavan police, Griebel said.
