Driver in deadly Orfordville crash arrested for OWI
ORFORDVILLE, Wis. — The driver of a car that left a Rock County highway and crashed, killing a passenger, is arrested for operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Twenty-six-year-old Douglas Axelson, of Brodhead, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the Village of Orfordville about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Rock County Sheriff’s officials say Sean M. Waterman, 32, of Brodhead, was driving the car that hit a utility pole and a sign before it rolled over in a ditch.
Waterman was airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he’s in critical, but stable condition. Sheriff’s officials say he’s under arrest on a variety of possible charges, including homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
WMTV-TV reports the driver could also be charged with third-offense drunken driving.
