MADISON—U.S. Senate hopefuls Tammy Baldwin and Tommy Thompson are getting ready to spar at their first debate.
The candidates are scheduled to meet at WMVS-TV’s studios in Milwaukee on Friday evening. The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation is sponsoring the event.
Baldwin, a Democrat, and Thompson, a Republican, will make statements and field questions from journalists.

Thompson is fighting to recover after polls last week showed the race was a dead heat or Baldwin in the lead. The former Wisconsin governor acknowledged his campaign was broke after the GOP primary in August. Karl Rove’s political action committee is pouring another $1.2 million into ads attacking Baldwin.
The candidates are scheduled to appear at two more debates ahead of the Nov. 6 election. All the debates will be broadcast statewide.

Tommy does not need the money. He is doing it for his ego.

Does anyone think that Tommy is in this for anything but the money? This whole "work for the gov'm'nt" thing is just one long book tour for these guys. He already did a stint with the lobbyists, no one sees the significance of that?

Tommy was a good governor. That was many years ago. I think he's not that same guy anymore. Baldwin is more for the little people, and I like that. I think she's independent minded and stands up for what is right. She has the courage of her convictions. Tommy looks tired and old, probably because he is, I guess.

Time to repeal the legislation that made corporations people. At least unions send money based on their members' vote. Corporations do not ask employees who they want to support. . . Just saying all this spending on campaigns is Craaaaaazy! Stop it, Stop it, Stop it! Elections are supposed to be about representing the citizens not special interest groups.

So why hasn't Tommy gotten any of that republikoch super PAC money? Is it because they thought he was a lock? Or is he just not radical enough for the new republican party?
