TOWN OF ROCK—Police arrested a Janesville man on suspicion of eighth-offense intoxicated driving after a report of a crashed stolen car.

Richard Fox, 49, was arrested early Sunday at the scene of the crash on County D near Highway 11 in the town of Rock, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

The intersection is south of Janesville.

Just before the crash, deputies were dispatched at 12:33 a.m. to a report of a car theft from a home in the 3100 block of West Rockport Road in the town of Janesville. Dispatchers told deputies Fox had just stolen a 2002 Grand Prix from the home, according to the news release.

At 12:42 a.m., sheriff’s deputies and Janesville emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at County D and Highway 11. When deputies arrived, they found Fox walking south on County D, according to the release.

Deputies think the car was driving south on County D when it stuck a guardrail on the west side of the road, crossed the road and crashed in the east ditch.

Fox was transported with injuries to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, where he was treated and released.

He also was ticketed for operating after revocation, failure to report an accident, hit and run, driving too fast for conditions and failure to wear a seatbelt.

He is in custody at the Rock County Jail and is expected to appear Monday in court.
