MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Florida teenager who plummeted 100 feet from a Wisconsin amusement park ride in 2010 is getting some help from actor Charlie Sheen.

Teagan Marti suffered brain, spine, pelvis and internal injuries when nets and air bags that were supposed to catch riders on the free-fall ride were not raised. She was paralyzed initially but through physical therapy is now able to walk with a walker.

A Marti family friend in Eau Claire asked Sheen for $6,000 to cover therapy dog training, and Sheen wired $10,000 on Thursday.

Sheen said he found it impossible not to help after getting the request and he likes to "pay it forward." The 15-year-old said she didn’t really know much about Sheen before but now thinks he’s kind and generous.

I do hope they name the dog Charlie... that would be a nice gesture. WTG, Mr. Sheen.

Well, it doesn't change the fact that Sheen has pretty redefined what it means to be a horse's hind end in Hollywood for a generation, but it's obviously a terrific gesture. Her father is a radiologist and probably makes well into six figures, but it's possible her medical expenses over insurance (such as a therapy dog) are more than even he can afford. It's sweet, but they're hardly indigent, either.

As a rule I don't pay too much mind as to what Hollywood folks do or don't do; however this is a very generous jesture by a man who could have very easily ignored this request. All the noise and hoopala about this man awhile back about his lifestyle and party habits would not lead one to believe him capable of such generosity to a stranger. I must say my respect for Charlie Sheen has increased a thousand fold, hoping all the best for him.
