Report puts $14 million on same-day registration
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report says eliminating voter registration at the polls on election day would cost Wisconsin up to $14.5 million, nearly three times as much as initially estimated.
The new total is included in a report released Monday by the state Government Accountability Board, which oversees elections in Wisconsin.
It is up from its first estimate of a $5 million. That included only estimated expenses by the elections board. The new cost includes estimated expenses from four state agencies affected by doing away with same-day registration, which would trigger implementation of federal voter registration requirements.
Gov. Scott Walker supports ending same-day registration but has said he wouldn’t sign a bill costing $5 million.

I am an active Kiwanian with Friday meetings, I have done clinic abroads in other countries, I have built habitat for humanity homes and remodel projects in my community, I serve food at a homeless shelter, I read to children in a school reading program, tomorrow I am delivering boxes as our help for the homeless drive starts on Friday. twice a month I give care to children of those less fortunate for no charge at a local shelter that houses families. I fully support local athletics, have raised and donated money for facilities and cared for athletes. I give of myself at least 4 times a month at an organized volunteer project thru kiwanis or my wife's rotary group, not including all the behind the scenes work and meetings that go into them.

and I've same day registered for every election i've been a part of since 1993. Between college, grad school and moving for jobs, i've registered in no less than 9 different districts. All on the day of the election. Not a real citizen..........you're funny

Maybe this estimate was made by the same people who initially estimated the damage at the capitol when Walker initiated his war of terror on the middle class....

WI is behind ILL on this.
"Registration is open year round except:
During the 27-day period just prior to an election and during the 2-day period after each election (1 day after in Chicago)"
"As soon as you receive a voter ID card in the mail, you can consider yourself registered. If you do not receive an ID card within 3 weeks after you registered, contact your election authority."

Looks like those estimates need some independent review to me. I'm throwing the BS flag on $14M thrown out there by those who have a vested interest in same day registration. Real citizen's who are actively involved in their communities are not performing same day registrations. These non-active folks are peddled to by parties and special interest groups trying to influence the outcome.....come on folks.....get real here.
