Fatal crash closes Highway 11 near Delavan
TOWN OF DARIEN A fatal crash closed nearly three miles of Highway 11 west of Delavan Tuesday after a car slid into the path of an oncoming semitrailer truck, authorities said.
One person was killed after he lost control driving east on the snow-covered highway and went into the westbound lane near Old 89 Road around 11:20 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
A westbound milk hauler hit the car on its driver's side, authorities said. The driver, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of 1:45 p.m. both directions of Highway 11 remained closed between Klug Road and Highway 14, McClory said. The highway would likely stay closed for another hour as authorities investigate the crash, he said.
Authorities said they were not releasing information about the driver who was killed until his family is notified.
The 31-year-old truck driver was not injured.
