Kohl, Johnson support Senate fiscal cliff deal
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin’s two U.S. senators both voted for a compromise bill meant to avert the fiscal cliff of across-the-board tax increases and sweeping spending cuts.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that both Democrat Herb Kohl and Republican Ron Johnson backed the measure, which passed the Senate by 89-8 after midnight on New Year’s Day (http://bit.ly/RrKbQx ).
The vote was after the midnight fiscal cliff deadline, and the bill’s prospects in the Republican-led House were unclear later in the day.
Johnson says he wanted to extend tax cuts for all Americans but that he believed 99 percent of Wisconsin residents would not see a tax increase under the bill.
Kohl’s vote may be his last as a senator as his term ends in days. He did not release a statement.

You could take all the pay away from them and they would still run for office. Look at a younger guy like Hovdee worth $50 mill. He dumped a huge amount of his own money for a chance to go to Washington. Why did he run? I suspect to make even more money from special interest groups or to mold laws to help him make even more money. I don't think cutting their government pay would make the difference. If you cut the special interest money maybe then they would get back to doing what is right for the majority in America rather than then there backers with the deep pockets.

Well we were going to get screwed either way. You know we can save a lot of money if we start paying them minimum wage like the rest of us. Why because none of our politicians are doing the job were paying them for, Maybe we reduce their pay and take away the perks we pay for they might just get their heads out of their *****. They had all this time to get this done but because of political bickering and arguing is why we had the situation we have now.

If Cantor was doing his job, he should hold up the deal. A deal that was brought to life because of a fiscal mess, which adds almost $4 trillion over 10 years to the fiscal mess it was supposed to help resolve, is NOT a deal which our representatives should be supporting......

The Senate deal won't matter. Majority Republican Leader Eric Cantor will hold up the deal in the House. He has his image of Republican Young Guns/Tea Party/Obstructionist to uphold. There is way to much big money backers to let this deal slide through. Watch what Paul Ryan does on this one as well. He, Cantor, and Kevin Mcarthy are the three self proclaimed "Young Guns"
