Blackhawk Tech considers a referendum
TOWN OF ROCK—The Blackhawk Technical College Board has given officials permission to explore the possibility of a referendum.
The board took no vote at its meeting Thursday at BTC’s central campus, but the consensus seemed to be that a referendum is worth looking into.
BTC President Tom Eckert said he would work with an architect to outline the college’s space needs, and then a public-opinion survey would be used to gauge public support.

The board members are appointed by elected officials (county board chairs).

400excracer, you may have, in your life, perhaps heard the phrase "public education". Imagine your medical care if the only nurses hospitals could hire were ones who could finance every penny of their own education.

If they are taxpayer funded, the voters should have a say in who is on the board.

Cynicaleye: I agree. Add the Turner School Board to your list. It's about time the taxpayers stood firm and demand changes to this out of control spending.

To Cynicaleye I say, Amen. The school district and city council have set a precedent. If you want something, just ask for more money.

It's only been 10 years since the last one which was desperately needed; as a former student, tax payer, and supporter of the last referendum I cannot in good faith support the notion of this referendum. The citizens of Rock and Green Counties cannot afford increased taxes Rock County is still in an economic downturn, unemployment is high, taxpayers are making less money today than they were 10 years ago.

I dont get why Blackhawk is taxpayer funded anyways. If they need money they should raise tuition.
