Police arrest two after purse snatching

JANESVILLE - Police arrested a 20-year-old man and a teenager Thursday night after they stole a purse from a woman in the parking lot of an eastside grocery store, according to Janesville police.

According to the news release:

Marco A. Cabrera, 20, of 1811 Green Forest Run, No. 203, Janesville, was arrested on a charge of felony theft from a person. A 16-year-old boy was referred to juvenile authorities on a charge of felony party to the crime of theft from a person.

Patrol units and a K-9 unit were dispatched at 6:21 p.m. to Sentry Foods, 2822 E. Milwaukee St., after two teenage-looking males took a purse from a cart that an 80-year-old woman was pushing in the parking lot. The males were last seen running toward the Interstate 90/39 overpass wearing dark sweatshirts.

Cabrera was arrested while the teen ran off when an officer made contact with them at the dead end of Somerset Court. Officers searched the area. Police dog Karo tracked the teen to 1811 Green Forest Run. Along with additional investigative information, officers were led to Apt. 203, where the teen was found inside hiding in a closet. The teen, who did not live at the apartment, was arrested without incident.
