JANESVILLE--Starting this week, Beloit residents can ride buses to Whitewater and back in the same day for the first time since 1982.

UW-Whitewater students living in Janesville can ride to campus at a reasonable morning hour.

Milton residents can board a bus at Freedom Plastics or The Gathering Place and ride to Janesville.

The expanded Janesville bus service that started Monday is another improvement in the area’s regional transportation system, said Dave Mumma, Janesville Transit System director.

A $243,525 rural state transportation grant is helping pay for the Janesville Transit System’s expanded service to Beloit, Janesville, Milton and Whitewater.

The grant is intended to improve bus service in rural areas and small towns, Mumma said.

Sigma, like me, must live outside the "downtown- milton ave- walmart" corridor.

Buses where I live are also empty.

Milton ave area might have more riders because its a busy area... look at all the other ones all over town. If im going to be paying for this with my tax money at least they can come over and shovel my sidewalk.

I praise JTS for expanding their services extending to other areas of Rock County. I have been using JTS for very long time and many many residents are using the local transportation here. I got to say I save a lot of money every month and thank goodness I don't have to pay all the necessary expenses of owning a car. JTS services has been really relyable and safe to use.

That's Freedom GRAPHICS, not Freedom PLASTICS (Freedom Plastics was in Janesville, now it's North American Pipe). Do you not have proofreaders?? Then again, it's a company in Milton not Janesville so who cares, right?!

Is this so 4 people ride the bus instead of 2? I still have not seen a bus with more than a couple people on it. Are we in denial that the busses are an overkill and a waste of money? I think so.
