Beloit police seek help in Saturday shooting
BELOIT—Beloit police are seeking the public’s help in a shooting incident that happened Saturday afternoon near St. Lawrence Avenue and Moore Street in Beloit.
According to a news release:
Two victims were walking westbound on St. Lawrence Avenue at about 1 p.m. when a white four-door car, possibly a Buick, traveling northbound on Moore Street approached them. The two men in the car confronted the victims, who did not know them and kept walking.
The driver fired multiple shots from a handgun at the two victims from the car. The car then fled northbound on Moore Street. The suspects displayed gang signs and yelled gang-related phrases during the incident. The victims have no known gang affiliations.
One victim, a 19-year-old man, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Surgery was required to remove the bullet from his leg. The other victim, a 20-year-old man, was not physically injured.
The shooter/driver is described as a light-skinned Hispanic man, about 23 years old, with a short, faded-style haircut and no facial hair.
The passenger is described as a darker-skinned Hispanic man in his early 20s with a stocky build, well-groomed “chin strap” style beard and mustache. He was wearing a royal blue ball cap, blue button-up shirt and a South Pole “puffy” coat with the letters “PF” on the right chest.
