Long-term unemployed will lose 9 weeks of benefits
MADISON—Wisconsin workers who have been unemployed for more than a year will lose nine weeks of benefits because of the state’s improving economy.
The federal government has notified the state that its lower unemployment rate means an end to federal emergency unemployment insurance. It extended benefits from 54 weeks to 63 weeks.
The State Journal reports an estimated 10,500 workers who have been unemployed for more than a year will start losing benefits the week of Feb. 9. An unemployment rate below 7 percent means an end to the federal subsidy.
The U.S. Department of Labor has calculated the state’s three-month average unemployment rate at 6.7 percent.

So does that mean I can't get unemployment for 99 weeks anymore? Good. Maybe I will go get a job. And there are jobs out there. Maybe not what you want but its enough to pay bills and have a little extra.

Well it's not just Walkers fault I blame the President and all our elected politician's because they lack the ability to to work together. To come up with a solution that makes sense to resolve this.

cut walkers pay, to the time he spends, in his office, not out giving speeches and joy riding around the state.

unemployment is down did you tell that to the 450 wokers at wps which will be out of a job in march this year? just came out in newspaper today. hate to say it but this country has become a joke. the goverment cares more about other countries but not us. amazing how fast the goverment can pass a law that benifits them but drags their feet when it comes to the people who put you in office.

Maynard, well played, the partisan nuts will politicize this when the underlying point is positive. There is a lesson here, when you depend upon government be prepared for it to be taken away without warning.

Remember the good ole days of 26 weeks employment ? And, the majority wouldn't be caught dead taking anywhere close to the full amount before moving to find work. E.g, North Dakota.

Unemployment should be used only if that person falls on hard times. Too many people abuse the sysytem and think they are entitled to it.

Can I get fry's with that. Wish all those affected alot of luck. Sad to see how we handle those in need. If you haven't been there you will never understand. Remember the money they receive goes to rent, food and area business. They dont get to put it in stock market.

I guess this would be Walker's fault also ... Or Obama's. Depends on which side of the fence you live on.
