Walker: Changing Wis. electoral-vote process risky
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker says he has concerns about changing the way Wisconsin awards its electoral votes in presidential elections.
Some Republicans across the country have floated the idea of having electoral votes awarded by congressional district, not in a winner-take-all format. All of Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes went to President Barack Obama, but by the proposed method he and Republican challenger Mitt Romney would have each won five votes.
Walker said Tuesday it’s an interesting idea, but not one he spends time thinking about. He says because Wisconsin is a battleground state, presidential and vice presidential candidates have an incentive to make repeated campaign stops here. He says he’s wary that changing the system could dissuade candidates from visiting.
He says Wisconsin voters benefit from seeing candidates up close.

Governor Scott Walker has already won 2 elections and can obviously win as many times as he wants in the future. I expect him to be a vice-presidential candidate in 2016, so he may choose to move-on to bigger and better things. With any luck, he and President Ryan will be able to do for the country what Governor Walker has done for Wisconsin.

I know your question is rhetorical but remember we are not talking about honest, ethical people. As Chubby Checker sang, “How low can you go?”.

I agree with fordfan completely. Walker will say and do anything to win the election in 2014. I liken him to the Michigan governor who, after he campaigned on, " I would never sign right to work legislation", signed it as soon as it hit his desk. Hopefully though people are beginning to see the pattern of deceit.

Would be risky to his reelection. After the 2014 elections, the lame duck Senate, Assembly and governor will pass right to work and this election stealing idea. Republicans at their finest - cheating.

I would like to see them award delegates based on the percent of votes received in each state ... and with state winner getting the 2 senatorial electoral votes. That way redistricting would not have an effect and the small states would not be totally left out which is why all states were awarded 2 senators. That way the presidential candidates would have to pay attention to the people in all 50 states instead of bypassing 40 of the states like the last election. Somewhere in the middle between the intent of the electoral college and the popular vote while not allowing redistricting to have an effect.

If there is any change, it should probably be a change to popular vote for national elections.
