Inmate death at Green County Jail under investigation
MONROE—The Monroe Police Department is investigating the death of an inmate who was found unresponsive and not breathing in his individual cell Wednesday morning at the Green County Jail, according to a news release.
According to the release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office:
Jail deputies discovered the man at 5:56 a.m. and began lifesaving measures while Monroe EMS and First Response were dispatched to the jail. The inmate was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the jail.
The cause of death is under investigation, and an autopsy has been scheduled. The inmate’s name, age and details regarding his incarceration are being withheld pending family notification and will likely be released Thursday morning.
