Flawed ATF sting in Milwaukee draws ire
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Members of Congress are calling for an investigation into the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives following a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report that the agency conducted a flawed sting operation in Milwaukee.
The newspaper reported Wednesday (http://bit.ly/W2pvOH ) that the ATF ran a 10-month storefront operation intended to bust felons for drug and gun offenses. But no major drug dealers or gang members were taken down.
Also, the store was robbed of $35,000 in merchandise, and agents left behind a document listing undercover agents. On Thursday the newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/W2qrCw ) that Republican and Democratic members of Congress want more details.
Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa says he’ll be asking the ATF questions. Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin says Wisconsinites deserve answers, and he’ll demand them.

Hmmm...
1. Stiffed the landlord for $15,000.00
2. Had $35,000.00 in merchandise stolen from them
3. Left documents behind exposing undercover agents
4. Had a S&W 9mm pistol, a Sig Sauer .40 pistol and an M-4 .223 fully automatic rifle stolen from them
5. bought a S&W .40 cal pistol in Sept. for $1,250 - a model selling for $400 to $700 in online auctions at the time
6. arrested 3 defendants who proved to be the wrong people
(even though they had video of the defendants and 1 was in prison when they claimed he bought drugs from them)
On the positive side, they are saving taxpayers gas money. With a branch ATF office in Milwaukee, you won't have to drive to their Arizona location to pick up an assault rifle. I wish I could buy stock in the ATF, their fully automatic rifles sales without documentation will boom when Obama shuts down legitimate sellers of semi-auto rifles who follow the law.
And you also get this bonus:
In a five-year span from 2002-'07 76 ATF weapons were stolen, lost or reported missing. That's nearly double the number compared with the FBI and the DEA, when considering rates per 1,000 agents.
That's the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

"ATF is a unique law enforcement agency in the United States Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products."
But wait! There's more. If you order before midnight tonight, you also get:
Obama Names Candidate For ATF Director Who Was Involved In Design Of “Fast And Furious” - U.S. Attorney B. Todd Jones

I suppose inserting "Heck of a job, 'B'" at this point would be considered partisan politics ☺
It's got to be discouraging for those ATF agents truly dedicated to getting guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals when the agency is being run by clowns trying to score brown-nosing points with the administration by putting idiots in charge of sting operations.

This has got to stop!! Time and time again, these government agencies CREATE and inspire crimes that otherwise would not have happened - but that aspect always seems to be downplayed by the media.

If Eric Holder is in anyway involved you can bet any attempt to get information will be delayed and a long time in coming out.

There has been an Acting Director since 2011.
ATF Acting Director B. Todd Jones
President Barack Obama formally nominated B. Todd Jones for the position of United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota on June 4, 2009, and he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 7, 2009. United States Attorneys serve as the nation's principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General, and each is the chief federal law enforcement officer of the United States within his or her particular jurisdiction.
In September 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder appointed Jones to serve as Chair of the Attorney General Advisory Committee (AGAC). This body, consisting of representative United States Attorneys from around the country, is responsible for advising the Attorney General on a broad array of Department of Justice policy issues.
After serving in that capacity for two years, the President appointed Jones the Acting Director for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in September of 2011. He has continued to serve as both Acting Director and U.S. Attorney since that time.

Wow, I'll bet having a director would have prevented the theft of the full automatic weapon from the ATF agent's car while he was parked at the coffee shop. Maybe Obama can blame it on the Republicans. Too bad the "GAGETTE" doesn't print the whole story.

That's what happens when you have no director for 6 years!
"Congress changed the law in 2006 to require that directors of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives receive Senate confirmation. Since then, there has been no confirmed director."

As with the State Dept employees, we probably won't be able to fire these either due to union protection.

It has always been easy to get firearms in Milwaukee, stolen or otherwise. It's good to know that there is a convenient ATF store nearby where we might also get guns, even if we don't want to pay for them.

This is careless, mediocre America..Typical lazy American hiring practices based on ridiculous criteria.
That's the "employees" you get as a result, and others pay the price....Happens everywhere, all the time.
