Packers all-time leading receiver Driver to retire
GREEN BAY — Donald Driver is retiring, with a formal announcement planned next week for the Green Bay Packers all-time leading receiver.
The Packers made the announcement early Thursday. In a statement, Driver says he’s always enjoyed a “special bond” with Packers fans, and “can think of no better way to retire than to celebrate with them and the Packers organization.” Driver will officially retire Feb. 6 at the Lambeau Field Atrium.
Driver finishes as the Packers all-time leader in yards receiving (10,137 yards) and catches (743), and is third behind Don Hutson and Sterling Sharpe with 61 touchdown receptions. He had seven 1,000-yard seasons, also a Packers record for a receiver.
He turns 38 on Saturday.

@justasking:You know, that one guy who Teddy boy ran out of town. Too bad Teddy boy decided last season was Drivers real last year. Too bad Jennings is next, followed by Woodson! This is Thompsons M.O. a player gives his all to the organization and then when he gets a little older, out the door you go! Oh wait, don't you dare even think you should continue your career (Favre), or play somewhere else! Sorry Teddy boy the NFL world does not begin and end in Green Bay!

It's unlikely the Packers would have offered him a contract for the 2013 season. Regardless he is a class act who was an excellent representive of the franchise. If only every player had the class DD has the league would be much better off.
Glad he didn't decide to sign with someone else and wear a different uniform. Evidently the Vikings were interested and that would have been a bummer.

Agreed kawisixer01. This is what Ted Thompson does. Forces players out and then has the attitude, of how dare they want to keep playing or how dare they want to play somewhere else! Just watch, Jennings could be next. Also do not be surprised when they cut Woodson!

How was he not forced to? They took him off of eligebility and didn't play him for most of the season. What did he take, about ten snaps all year? It's BS, he has a hell of a lot of playablity left in him and they stuck him on the bench.

A class act. I'm always impressed with someone who retires before they are forced to.
