Set clocks ahead for daylight saving time

WASHINGTON (AP) — Spring must be around the corner. It’s time to set the clocks forward for daylight saving time.

At 2 a.m. local time Sunday, daylight saving time arrives with the promise of many months ahead with an extra hour of evening light.

You lose an hour of sleep, but make sure to turn the clock ahead — spring forward — before heading to bed Saturday night to avoid the panic of a late rise.

It’s also a good time to put new batteries in warning devices such as smoke detectors and hazard warning radios.

Some places don’t observe daylight saving time. Those include Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.

Daylight saving time ends Nov. 3.

You change the clocks twice a year.
It still comes as a surprise to some people.
Carry on.

concern - read my post again.
My point was that smart people are able to figure out how to deal with it.
You are, evidently, not one of those.

EMMO, what about people with children who aren't old enough to know how a clock works? Their bodies are set to wake up at a certain time, regardless of what the clock says. How about people that worked late saturday night and couldn't go to be early?

No other southern wisconsin local paper copy and pasted the story. In fact most of them wrote very nice articles. I just think it shows a lack of effort. Not that the gazette has ever been a well written publication.

Why on earth would they write their own article about DST, Jvldude30? Is there some notable local angle here? That's what a wire service is for.

What a stupid statement!
..."You lose an hour of sleep".
No, there are still 24 hours in the day, and that does not change, does it?
Any fool knows to set the clocks ahead before bedtime, go to bed according to the clock's new DS setting, and get up at the same indicated hour you always do.
If a person is too stupid to figure out how to get their full night's sleep, they deserve to "lose" an hour.

My cousins had absolutely no idea what we were talking about, either, when we'd talk about fall back spring ahead...LOL. oh the memories just talking about time. Explains why Chicago had so many questions about time, too: Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

OHHHH. I just remember being REALLY confused as a kid when we'd go to my grandparent's house. I'd look at my watch. My parents kept saying it's 5:30 here, but 4:30 at home. There just really is NO good explanation for daylight savings time...

Really? Extra evening light? What happened, did the earth's rotation slow down? PLEASE! We don't get an "extra hour" of light. Well, that is unless you're a Republican and don't believe in science.

No longer true, ms_sassy_wi -- they changed that in 2006, and a few counties changed to the Central Time Zone at the same time.

Yes, Indiana is on daylight saving time, including Indianapolis.

Most of Indiana doesn't change their time, either, does it? (except around Gary/Chicago)

Finally....the time at my state of residence will be the same as my state of work.
