Janesville house fire investigated

JANESVILLE—Janesville firefighters and police officers are still investigating a house fire today at 67 South Harmony Drive.

A passerby reported the fire at 4:26 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:30 p.m., said fire department shift Cmdr. James Ponkauskas.

When firefighters arrive smoke was coming out the front door and from under the eaves.

The fire was located in the basement. Firefighters removed a man from the house at 4:47 p.m. and he was transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.

The man’s name has not been released.

Three engines and two ambulances responded to the call, Ponkauskas said.
