Beloit man arrested on 7th OWI charge
JANESVILLE—A man whose blood alcohol content was more than five times the legal limit, was arrested early Monday morning on charges of operating while intoxicated, reported to be his seventh offense, and operating after revocation.
According to a Janesville Police Department news release: An officer was patrolling the area of North Pontiac Drive and St. George Place at 12:59 a.m. Monday when he discovered a traffic crash. Further investigation revealed that Ronald E. Campbell, 37, of 1327 Portland Ave., Beloit, hit an unoccupied parked vehicle while driving south on Pontiac Drive.
Campbell was not injured and after initially submitting to a series of field sobriety tests refused to finish them. The officer detected a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Campbell, who was unsteady on his feet and was slurring his speech. A preliminary breath test showed a result of .43 blood alcohol content.
