HIDTA drug searches net 33 arrests

JANESVILLE—Police on Thursday seized heroin, marijuana and $5,400 in cash during a focused drug interdiction effort in Janesville, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., police focused on watching for traffic violations on the Highway 11 bypass, Interstate 90/39, Highway 51 and the Five Points intersection, according to the news release.

Officers made 103 traffic stops and 33 arrests. They issued 180 warnings and 55 citations. They made contact with 18 people on probation, three of whom were taken into custody on suspicion of parole violation, according to the news release.

The interdiction effort was done in cooperation with members of the Milwaukee High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, of which Rock County is a part. Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers, Rock County sheriff’s deputies and Department of Corrections probation officers participated in the interdiction, according to the news release.
