Is Beloit Janesville Symphony going in the right direction?
The Beloit Janesville Symphony is among cultural arts organizations that have fallen on hard times in this tough economy. The orchestra is fighting back with a new schedule that combines music with dinner, dancing and even film. But it leaves behind the Janesville Performing Arts Center.
So is the new schedule a good thing or not?
This will be the subject of the Gazette's editorial Friday.

Moving from JPAC is a mistake for the symphony and the community - not matter where you perform you need to look at other expenses as well, which they seem to have ignored

Better sound? Tony Bennett might beg to differ.

Regardless of whether logistically it is a better venue, it is unfortunate Janesville must resort to a former skating rink and high school for venues. Eaton Chapel? the Eclipse Center? Why does Beloit get the better end of the bargain. Then again, the symphony was started there.

Great thing...The Pontiac Convention Center is so much better, better sound, better atmosphere, and WAY more parking, Closer to Interstate, etc.
