Doyle's announcement opens door to many
Gov. Jim Doyle listed many "accomplishments" in the past 18 months, suggesting many more can happen in his last 18 in the Governor's Mansion.
His announcement today that he will not seek a third term next year opens the door for many possible candidates, both Democrats and Republicans.
Whom do you like as a candidate?
Do you think Doyle is leaving from a position of strength, or is he leaving out of fear that he can't win a third term? This, and what we hope he might accomplish in his remaining months, is the subject of the Gazette's editorial for Tuesday.

We can only wonder if former gubernatorial candidate, Ty Bollerud, is staging his comeback.

Leaving from a position of strength or weakness? Have you been in a coma for the past 3 years? I'm guessing the fact that Osama Bin Laden would have better approval rating numbers has a little to do with why he's leaving. Why do I have the feeling that if Doyle was affiliated with the party across the aisle you wouldn't be wasting people's time with this moronic question.

I would bet the democratic party is pushing Doyle to do this announcement early because his approval rating is only 30% now. The party knows he can't win and they are afraid a Republican will get in. So, they have Doyle do this announcement, then other Dems can get in the media and hopefully take the focus off of what Doyle has done or what he's doing now.

Look for Congressman Kind to get in the race. His family is young and he's apparently tired of the commute to D.C. Word is that Doyle has never planned to leave early and give the keys to Babs Lawton.

Doyle knows he could not win a third term and the rest of the democrats should follow his lead. Its going to be a tough re-election bid for any imcumbent but more so for the democrats.

Doyle cannot/could not win a third term. His final act was removing the QEO and what is left will be a return to double digit property tax increases.
