Fly that flag proudly--and correctly
If you fly the flag on Saturday, the Fourth of July, please do so correctly. Many veterans get understandably incensed when people ignore flag etiquette. That's understandable, when so many veterans saw their camrades suffer and die in battle.
Here are a couple of key tips:
Ordinarily the flag should be displayed only between sunrise and sunset. It should be illuminated if displayed at night (and a nearby street light doesn't cut it, folks).
Also, when a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner.
These tips and many more are available at www.usflag.org/flag.etiquette.html. Why not check them out and fly the flag proudly--and correctly?
