Did you watch Doyle's State of the State address?
Did you watch Gov. Jim Doyle's State of the State address Tuesday night, or were you instead watching "American Idol" or "The Biggest Loser." (Hint: Doyle didn't appear on either of the latter two shows!).
Do you plan to listen to Barack Obama's first State of the Union address tonight?
What did Doyle say that you applaud? What did he not say that left you wondering why?
If you missed Doyle's speech, you can read the advance text by clicking here.
What do you wish President Obama would say tonight?
We'll share our views on Doyle's speech in our Thursday editorial. We'll leave it up to our nationally syndicated columnists to put perspective on the president's talk tonight.

Unless I overlooked it in the speech transcript - - -no mention of Janesville. No mention of trains being built here like the idea was floated months ago. No route going through Janesville. If you read the WI State Journal story today, there is discussion of trains to Milw, Chicago, Madison. But Janesville... the sound of silence.

At work I predicted that all the TV stations but one would televise the State of the Union message and that the one lone station would broadcast a cheesy movie full of mindless violence that would draw a 95% share.
So, how did everyone else like seeing "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" again? ☺

I wish President Obama would say:
"Government has gotten too big and we need to cut down on wasteful spending. No more "no bid" contracts and even though I told everyone this wont happen when I am elected, I went ahead and did it anyways with the recent $25 Million no bid contract I gave one of my campaign donors. Anyways, if you belive me any more, I promise this wont happen again and to show you that I will make good on my promise, why dont we get the economy and jobs going again by slashing taxes for corporations and individulas to 10% accorss the board. Afterall, everyone is equal and we all need to do our fair share, so everyone will pay a 10% tax. No loopholes, no tax laws, no ways to get out of it, just a 10% tax. This alone may actually cause the IRS to lay off thousands of workers, however the savings to the small business owner and corporate america will spur growth and these people will quickly find new jobs. More jobs equals more tax revenue. It may seem with lower taxes the government will not have any money, but I assure you we will have so much money that we wont know what to do with it."
That would be a great start.
Thanks for asking.
