Should city pay for sidewalks, tree removal?

Because the city of Janesville owns the land where sidewalks are installed and trees grow on terraces, it can be argued that the city should pay out of its general fund to repair sidewalks and cut down diseased terrace trees. But should it? This will be the subject of The Gazette’s editorial Sunday.

What should voters expect now that former Gov. Tommy Thompson survived a four-way Republican primary and will face Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the November race for U.S. Senate? This will be the subject of The Gazette’s editorial Saturday.
