A new book by Michael Perry
I'm excited about a new book by Michael Perry, one of my favorite authors, coming out next week.
The book is called "Visiting Tom."
Not everyone is as enthralled with Perry’s projects as I am. Perhaps being a native of a small Wisconsin town, I can identify with Perry’s roots and rural humor more than some readers.
You can learn more about Perry at sneezingcow.com (Hint: Never stand behind a sneezing cow). He describes himself as an author, humorist, singer/songwriter and amateur pig farmer.
I loved Perry’s “Population 485,” and his most recent book, “Coop, a Year of Pigs, Poultry and Parenting,” was equally delightful.
What is “Visiting Tom” all about? It’s about Perry’s visits to an elderly neighbor and his wife. In a short video on his website, Perry describes the story. Check it out. I can’t wait to read the book.
Perry's website also lists a couple of upcoming Madison speaking engagements. If you enjoy his books and have never heard him speak, it's worth the drive. His rich rural humor is delightful in person. I hope he someday returns to Janesville to speak, as well.
