Keep Jimmy and Phil in their burrows!

By GREG PECK ( Contact )   Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 2:24 p.m.

Thursday is the day when that Bill Murray movie likely will play over and over and over on some cable or satellite channel like a broken record.

The forecast in these parts calls for partly sunny skies. So odds might be good that Jimmy up in Sun Prairie or Punxsutawney Phil out in Pennsylvania sees his shadow, heads back into his burrow and thus, legend has it, we’ll have six MORE weeks of winter.

What, on top of the one or two weeks we’ve already endured?

Did you see the geese flying and the joggers in shorts and T-shirts on Tuesday? See that grass sticking out on your lawn? Isn’t it time to think spring? Are you ready?

In our editorial Thursday, we’ll set aside hard-punching politics for one day and instead lighten things up as we look forward to spring.
