What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

By GREG PECK ( Contact )   Thursday, October 25, 2012 - 10:55 a.m.

The Girl Scouts don't officially kick off their cookie sales until Saturday. My wife, however, already ordered a couple of boxes from some family involved in Cheryl's Thursday night league. Then, last night before I got home, Cheryl bought three more boxes--already delivered--from a neighborhood girl.

Those boxes contain my three favorites: Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties (not to be mistaken with Peanut Butter Sandwiches) and Thin Mints.

If I were buying them, though, I'd just go for two or three boxes of the Caramel deLites. Though I'm usually no big fan of mixing chocolate and coconut, these cookies can't be beat in my book.

And I won't be buying any of a new flavor that we're sampling today in the newsroom. Reporter Shelly Birkelo says they're Mango Cremes with nutrifusion. They're vanilla and coconut cookies filled with a tangy mango-flavored creme and enhanced with nutrients from fruits. Sorry, girls, but the scent makes me feel like I'm biting into dried shampoo.

Which Girl Scout cookies are your favorite?

iknewby- I prefer to buy from the cute little girl out freezing her tail off in the driveway. Corner of Liberty and Randolph. She was out at 9 am and still out at 5:30 pm.Sunday. Waving at all who drive by happily with her puppy outside. Hard to pass that up. Little Jefferson school girl doing the work HERSELF. I tried the Mango- not bad.

Dried fruit or not, I would love to try one or a dozen of those cookies. Have not heard of them but they contain the three top flavors in my book, Mango, Coconut, and Vanilla.

Nicks mom- I beleive they are selling them now for some extra fun raising or for the troops.
Carmel ones are good but you only get like 12?
Don't eat too many(mints) or you get nasty surprise in the rest room- ick lol. Lots of oil and color in them :)

I miss the vanilla sandwich cookies they used to have. Might try the new mango cookie just to see if they really do smell like biting into dried shampoo!

I LOVE the Somoas. I think they go by Caramel Delites now. Isn't it kind of early for cookies? I thought that was usually a spring thing.
