What do you make of Walker’s budget?

By GREG PECK ( Contact )   Friday, February 22, 2013 - 4:17 p.m.

“We’re turning things around. We’re heading in the right direction. We’re moving Wisconsin forward.”

Gov. Scott Walker made those claims when he unveiled his 2013-15 budget Wednesday night. Do you agree?

Much of what Walker said was no surprise. He spent the past few weeks announcing various aspects of his biennial spending plan. If you missed his budget address, you can read the prepared text.

What do you like or dislike about Walker’s plan?

Our editorial Sunday will focus on six key areas—education funding, tax cuts, transportation funding, worker training, help for the poor and the risk of another structural deficit.

"How can any one on the left even respond to this? 4 years and no budget. They don't even know what it is to be responsible with your money."

Who or what is your source thatwaseasy? The OMB website has documented evidence of the Obama budgets submitted in FY2010, 2011 and 2012. Its up to the Senate and House to PASS a budget resolution. Republicans have failed to follow through just as Republican majorities in Congress failed to pass budget resolutions in Fiscal Years 2005 and 2007.

How is creating a $188 million dollar deficit by giving the wealthy a tax cut, "responsible"? Meanwhile Wisconsin taxpayers stand to lose $170 million in lost revenue because of how Republican lawmakers crafted the current mining bill. Add to that Walkers decision NOT to expand Medicare which is estimated to cost Wisconsin Taxpayers $68 million according to Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Walker giving the shaft to the Wisconsin working class, yeah that was easy.

Funny Rich I didnt hear you mention the Governors plans to increase spending and lower taxes. I am sure that is a way to lead the state out of debt and into prosperity inst it? Funny how you only mention the other team when talking about irresponsibility in government. You area very predictable individual.

I would like to see Deb Kolste, Tim Cullen etc honestly tell taxpayers how much they are willing to increase taxes on working people to pay for the all the programs they are promoting.

Could someone please show me proof that a college graduate makes a better governor than a non-grad? Factual proof, not emotional proof. His budget may be stupid (pure opinion - not fact), or his budget may be the best thing that this state has seen (again pure opinion - not fact). All I keep seeing are the elitist bullies pointing their fingers at how a person who is governor that doesn't have a college degree is a failure. Again, bullying via no factual basis. How is being a college dropout a failure? If being a college grad is akin to being a good public leader, please explain to me the poor budget decisions of the college grad public leaders of the past (think Jim Doyle) or current (think Barrack Obama). Please use facts to back up your explanation, not the opinion that "his/her budget is good for the (pick your socioeconomic status) or ...just because it's good for humanity..." argument that has been and is currently being touted as fact. Lastly, what if he was a college grad? Say in pre-1785 Belgian Literature. Would the fact that someone has a BS/BA/MS/MFA in Pre-1875 Belgian Literature make them an better person for a governor position? Please do elaborate on how smart someone has to be in order to hold a public office. Remember, back those "elaborations" up with factual data not the emotional "just 'cus" data.

More talking out both sides of his mouth. On the campaign trail, he's all about less government and less spending. When the rubber hits the road, he puts out a budget full of more government, more debt, and more spending.

A college DROPOUT should NOT be a governor. Especially with his very low C average. Walker has never had a real job where he knows what working people do. That is why he continues to mess up the lives of hard working people - like with his stupid budget AND "Scott Walker Projects Own Massive JOBS FAILURE"

Do we have a choice ? Like it or not it will more than likely happen. I'll just put on a smile and live my life while feeling sorry for a whole lot of people. Two years will pass slowly, then it will really hit fan.
