Did you like or dislike Walker’s speech?
In his State of the State speech Tuesday night, Gov. Scott Walker pledged to propose a phased-in income tax cut. Many Wisconsinites likely will applaud, though he offered no details about how big a cut or how he would pay for that. The details likely will come when he unveils his second biennial budget next month.
Others residents, however, will dislike Walker’s vow to create more educational options including vouchers if these come to the detriment of more funding for K-12 public schools.
Walker named transforming education among his five “clear priorities.” The others are creating jobs, developing our workforce, reforming government and investing in infrastructure. Whether the latter commitment will include no delays for the expansion of Interstate 90-39 between the state line and Madison, Walker didn’t say. That, too, will be revealed in the budget.
What did you like or dislike about Walker’s speech?
We’ll share our perspectives in our editorial Thursday.

Teacher's BEWARE...Get out of the way of the GOP steamroller Scott Walker...it's aimed at your job! Walker's budget took power and authority away from local school boards and slashed nearly $1.6 billion in state aid to local public school districts, while increasing funding for schools run by private organizations, including for-profit corporations, like those favored by the conservative American Federation of Children. The American Federation of Children, run in Wisconsin by longtime Republican operative Scott Jensen, a colleague of Scott Walker's in the Legislature, spent nearly $820,000 on independent expenditures and phony issue ads in the 2010 fall elections. Scott Walker himself was the recipient of $70,000 in direct contributions from so-called "choice" advocates. [WI Act 10, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign]
Hmmmmm. Following his now infamous promise to Wisconsin billionaire heiress Diane Hendricks that he was going to start making our state a red, Right to Work state by starting a divide and conquer strategy starting with public employees in the documentary As Goes Janesville that aired on PBS last year.........But let's see how enthusiastic YOU are when the REALITY settles in of having the right to work FOR LESS and the reality of being entitled to only those actual rights your employer allows you to have.

wislady - what on earth are you implying? FYI, hooters is one of the many nicknames that I gave to my horse. For example "hooterman", hootie, and simply "hoo" are a few others. Someone needs to get their mind out of the gutter...geesh!

Wislady: Did you Thank Obama for the unemployment rate being below 8% nation wide? No you didn't because you said those numbers only reflect the fact that people are no longer eligible for unemployment and does not reflect the true unemployment rate. Funny how it only works that way for YOUR side. Hypocrit again. By the way, did you thank that union member for the 40 hour work week you are enjoying this weekend? Didn't think so.

Funny no media took the time to publish the childishness going on during the SOTS - how there were big fabric screens set up between the Assembly chamber doors and the elevator doors so those coming and going could do so in secrecy; how a huge speaker broadcast Walker's words to a completely empty rotunda (admission to the building was restricted a couple hours earlier); that the clear glass in the public gallery viewing areas has been replaced with frosted glass (so much for government transparency in a very literal way!) and much more. The SOTS was a farce; a show-and-tell of mammoth fallacies by the only governor in the nation who has a legal defense fund. Sadly, the worst is still to come with pending legislation raping our states resources and people. SPEAK now or soon you won't be able.

…oh wislady, you can add:
- Obama is a tyrant
- Obama is un-American
- Obama hates the second amendment
- Comparing Obama to Hitler and Stalin by showing pictures of them with children
And that was just from Thursday…
And from today, this is a bipartisanship reference for you (actually admits that Republicans hate democracy):

[OFF TOPIC]Not sure if any you readers are aware but the city of Janesville did implement the water rate change & if you live in Janesville you WILL be paying 20% more for your water! I just called & confirmed it. I don't recall seeing an article on here stating it took effect. There are articles mentioning they wanted it but nothing actually reflecting the change (that I see)! The change was effective January 1, 2013. Just a friendly fyi..

+1 Gary......I do agree with you 100% on this point. You are right in stating that the history being created by the Obama Administration is definitely "wrong", and those of us who voted against him are frustrated by it's effects on us and future generations.

According to Wikepeida, Scott attended college from 86-90, but was married in 1993. Just was curious if his claim to have left college was to care for his pregnant wife was true. Of course, he could have left to care for his pregnant girlfriend...but where did the stories of him being kicked out come from ?

Don't watch him, don't like him. Don't pay much attention to criminal dropouts, have a pretty good life despite his thievery. Are the "I stand with the dropout" crowd still as rabid, or are they finally noticing that he might have not been quite truthful with them too?

wislady - lets start at the top with talking about bipartisanship....
- Obama is a Muslim.
- Obama was born in Kenya.
- Our number one goal is to make Obama a one term president.
- If he fails on health care we can break him - it will be his Waterloo.
- Obama does not know what it means to be an American.
- We will refuse to give the president a single win in the legislature.
Let's make fun of the physical appearance of Obama's wife.
Obama won twice with over a 50% majority and the Democrats won more aggregate votes than the Republican's in the House (thank you Gerrymandering) but we will refuse to recognize that the Democrats won.
- Obama surrounds himself with children as human shields
- Obama's kids do not deserve security if your kid's don't get the same thing
- Impeach Obama for who knows what...
- We will destroy the US and world economy of we do not get our way with the budget and we will NOT accept anything that Obama has or will offer – it is not our way..
and this goes on and on and on. This is the Republican Party and their offering toward bipartisanship. You represent and defend the Republicans as they wallow in the sewer of politics that they along with your assistance has dug and then filled. And you wonder why we are then offended and refuse to listen to our Governor who lied to get elected and continues to lie to this day - his made up jobs numbers for example.
The polls all show that the people in the nation are sick of the partisanship and hard nosed, no compromise attitude the Republican Tea Party has led with. I know I am. The only way to get out of our problems is to work together but that will never happen with attitudes that are meant to kill the other party as Walker and his cronies led off with. If he wants to fix the partisanship problem then he needs to fix the wrongs that he led off with.

I watched it. It was especially touching when he spoke about why he left college during his senior year..."my wife was expecting and I needed to take care of them, etc." What a bunch of garbage! He didn't mention he was asked to leave because he cheated. I guess we should have known right then he was destined to be a politician.

I didn't watch the Governor's speech because I trust him. He gave us a concealed carry law and reined in the abusive teacher's unions "bargaining" to reasonable proportions. I'm concentrating on trying to prevent our disingenuous President from abrogating my Constitutional rights, moving us closer to Europe's failing socialist economic model and opening the door to illegal immigrants.
I'm more concerned with a possible future wave of Islamic fundamentalists causing problems here like they have in the Netherlands, than with the current wave of Mexican immigrants seeking employment. I want both political parties to stop granting blanket amnesties to illegal aliens. Illinois' driver license program for illegals is a step in the wrong direction. "Sanctuary cities" are wrong. I have no problem with controlled, legal, immigration into America.
