Attractive living in downtown Janesville
I know a young man who grew up in Janesville but lives in the Milwaukee area. He never wants to come home. In particular, he enjoys the bars and restaurants, the culture and architectural character in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. I admit, there’s much to appreciate.
I think, however, that he would have been impressed with the feature story splashed across our front page Sunday and the photos and text filling two more inside pages. Gazette reporter Marcia Nelesen and photographers Bill Olmsted and Dan Lassiter gave readers an inside look at the beauty, character and architecture that are attracting more and more people to downtown living quarters in renovated buildings.
What could this slow but steady movement mean to downtown revitalization efforts? We’ll share our perspectives in our editorial Wednesday.

Now, if only the downtown business people could see the wisdom of investing in quality improvements. Until then, one only has to count the number of unlit streetlights to see why Janesville continues to fail.

I really enjoyed this article in Sundays paper. So much character in these buildings.
They did a wonderful job with the restoration/remodeling.

The article was a refreshing change of pace. Something positive.
It takes vision which is a rare thing now a days.
Keep the good things coming no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
Oh, the piece on downtown coupled with the Ag center idea in Evansville, all in one issue, was almost too much to handle (kidding).

Downtown revitalized, not at taxpayers expense.
