Long line. Good food

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Saturday, June 6, 2009 - 9:42 p.m.

We waited in line for about an hour for pancakes at Rock County Dairy Breakfast at the Funk farm Saturday morning.

That seemed to be a typical wait for the folks I talked to.

When I bought tickets at 10:30 a.m., I was told about 2,600 people had been through the line.

Luckily, Rock County's a friendly place. We made "single serving friends" with the others in line and took breaks to go pet the bunnies and lambs.

The rain held off, and the pancakes were yummy.

It was a little chilly, but not too chilly for ice cream sundaes.

Is it ever too chilly for ice cream sundaes?

I'm so sad I missed the dairy breakfast this year! That's one of the few times a year I make it out to a farm, city girl that I am. Embarassing story: The first time I went to the dairy breakfast, I was disappointed that the milk wasn't from that farm's cows. Apparently I wasn't thinking about pasteurization and all that good stuff.

we waited 1 1/2 for the great pancakes on the farm. Did anything get in the paper about how many and how good everythings was? maybe even a picture of the long line

I like the Rock county one but I like the Green county one better as I'm not real fond of pancakes! At the Green county one they make scrambled eggs and sausage! but both are fun!

I'm frothing at the mouth as I read this. Yum.
