Off to the fair
I’m heading out the door for an afternoon at the Walworth County Fair.
I’ll be covering the market lamb show, the beef show and the Country Idol competition.
In between, I’ll be working on a little feature story for the weekend. I think I’ll keep the subject of said feature a secret for now.
I will tell you that WCLO reporter Beth Wheelock said the story has the potential for “infinite cuteness.”
I could use a little cuteness.
I worked all day yesterday on a story about how the weather has really slowed down local corn and soybean maturation.
And I’ve spent the last few weeks on a story about dairy prices. I’ve gotta say, it’s been depressing. Educational, but depressing.
My stress, of course, is a drop in the ocean compared to the worries of families trying to run a dairy farm these days.
So, I’m going to be grateful that my job requires me to spend an afternoon at a county fair. I’m going to visit with some familiar faces and meet a few new people.
I’m probably going to eat a few tacos.
I hope stressed-out farm families—and non-farm families—can get away for some fun and friendly competition at the fair. That’s what it’s for.
I’ll see you there!

That would be an excellent narrative: "Ann Marie and the Infinite Cuteness".
