Time for another mailbag...
Last fall my Peace & Glove partner and I did a "mailbag" post in which we answered reader questions. The response was almost overwhelming and it ended up taking three different posts to answer every question. If you recall, there even were a few questions about baseball! ;)
The other day we were swinging some hammers out on the farm in preparation for the chickens that will arrive next month. We got to chatting and realized with the 2013 MLB season almost upon us, now is a great time to do another mailbag.
If you have a question you would like us to answer, feel free to post it on here or email it to me. I will use your first name only if you email me, or your Gazettextra user ID if you post it here. You can also tweet me your questions @timmyt3477. This is a baseball blog, but if you read our previous mailbag you’ll realize we don’t know any more about life than we do baseball -- so ask anything for which you’d like an answer that may, or may not make sense.
We will get your questions answered and (hopefully) posted before opening day, so ask away ...

Long time reader; recently non-existant poster.
.
Did the Brewers overpay for Kyle Lohse? He is 34, had career bests in literally every stat category and has been all over the board from year-to-year. He has been trending up for the last few years, but has only had 5 winning seasons dating back to 2001 and just three seasons with a sub 4.00 ERA.
.
Do you remember the last Cardinal starting pitcher that Brewers acquired (hint: it's Jeff Suppan)? He didn't turn out so well. Could this be deja vu all over again?
.
Where do you see the Brewers finishing in the NL Central this year?
.
Will I have the opportunity to win another bobble head?
.
Who will be the biggest surprise for the Crew this year?

That aging actress with the big breasts in the movie Bull Durham said that she believed in the "church of baseball." What's up with that?

Google it.
But I think all the players on the House of David baseball team have always been Jewish.
Tony Taylor always made the sign of the cross when he went to bat. But lifetime he only hit .260 with only 51 home runs. Strange.

I recently read a book entitled: "Jewish Jocks." Any idea how many Jewish baseball players (Ryan Braun is one) there are in the major leagues? The book didn't say how many.

Tim, it seems that the superstition of baseball players smacks of religiosity. One theory is that superstition and religiosity involve a shutdown of the intellect; then the magical thinking of belief (superstition) is invoked to explain real phenomena in the real world.
Take Zambrano, he was always pointing at the lord (very impolite, if you ask me) which seems to directly correlate with his self-defeating spurts of low intellect.
Andy thoughts on this?

Let's talk about Ryan Braun and the report that MLB is "out to get him." Does that makes sense? Why would baseball go after one of its biggest names?

Are the Brewers, or Cubs pretenders or contenders? Is G Jennings move to the Vikings a serious threat to finally win the NFC North? Will the WI DNR ever use common sense regarding deer hunting and use of bait for viewing wildlife? Will the Packers have a for real run game this decade? Will you ever win a pultizer prize Tim? Will Pete Rose ever get inducted into Baseballs Hall of Fame? I had fun with this, will you?
