Take a Time Out with the YPs tonight!

By TRISH SKRAM   Thursday, August 4, 2011 - 11:18 a.m.

If you’re a young pro (or student) in communications, sales, management, technology or marketing or want to be, you should join me and other professionals tonight at the Rock County Young Professionals event at Time Out.

Like most networking events, the Young Professionals Group puts you in direct, live conversations with other people (like you) who are looking to connect and build there professional network. I always walk away with new business cards and great conversations. But really, most of all, I enjoy sharing and exchanging tips, advice and/or struggles with your career. You never know, your next connection could be your next sales lead, business relationship or new friend.

I caught up with Travis Ross, President of the Rock County Young Professionals group this morning to talk about the event. Travis says the group helps young professionals learn to network, connect with others and develop their skills. “It’s simple, really. Young professionals can and will have a significant impact on business in Rock County,” he says. “Young professionals need to get involved in their community and build relationships. There are several local business professionals and owners who attend and we all have a good time.”

If you're not ready to come to an event and you want more information, please contact Travis Ross at travis.ross@nmfn.com and he can answer your questions. You can also get updates on upcoming events and other news by connecting with the group on Facebook

I’ve met some powerful, bright and talented professionals at these events. The bottom line is the group is here for you and for your growth, so ask questions, volunteer, attend events and help make the Rock County Young Professionals group better!

If you go:

Time Out Pub & Eatery • 101 E Milwaukee St., Janesville

5:30–7:30 pm

The Time Out staff will be tossing, slicing, dicing and preparing some of their top-notch appetizers. Brian Cherry, owner of Time Out, will be on hand to discuss his successful business. Cost is $5 and includes appetizers and drinks.

I’ll probably be by the cheese tray, come say hi. I’d love to connect!

Feel free to join me on LinkedIn and Facebook

The word "pro" is abused in todays society... basically everyone can be one and it says nothing about you, your ability, or any education you may have.....its a very loose word.
